Executive Director Benjamin Mee
recently discussed
HyTerra and our mission to extract naturally occurring hydrogen and helium in
Kansas with Yield.
As Mr Mee explains, HyTerra is
focused on “carbon-free gas” such as hydrogen that the Earth itself
generates, offering a compelling alternative to fossil-based fuels. He emphasises
the rising global need for hydrogen across industries like plastics,
petrochemicals, and food production—demand driven by population growth and
decarbonisation goals.
He points out that most of today’s
hydrogen is derived from steam reforming natural gas, which has a significant
carbon footprint. HyTerra’s approach seeks to meet this demand sustainably,
positioning white hydrogen as a competitive solution due to its potentially lower
production costs and carbon impact.
Mee’s comments on investor
interest—both domestic and international—reflect the early momentum that
HyTerra is capitalising on. White hydrogen holds the potential to reshape
energy markets, and HyTerra’s proactive approach in Kansas places us as early
movers.
